Colosseum

Colosseum, a legendary band in the history of Rock, return by popular demand to Magic Blues. Pioneers of fusion and prog rock, they mastered the art of blending rock, blues, jazz, and avant-garde in a unique way. Formed in 1968 by Jon Hiseman (drums) and Dick Heckstall-Smith (saxophone), they released their first album, Those Who Are About to Die Salute You (1969), and took part in the Supershow alongside Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, and others. Their second album, Valentyne Suite, a masterpiece, was the first release on the new Vertigo label. A Colosseum concert is a journey through the history of British blues rock, thanks to the many line-ups and collaborations of its members over the years. The band has always shone live, with long tracks and spectacular solos where each member, a true virtuoso of their instrument, gave their very best. Despite losses such as saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith, drummer Jon Hiseman, and saxophonist Barbara Thompson, the new members have kept the band’s quality sky-high. With Chris Farlowe (a legendary voice who, despite being 85, hasn’t lost a thing), Clem Clempson (a brilliant guitarist), and Mark Clarke (a rock-solid bassist in the style of Jack Bruce), plus recent additions like Malcolm Mortimore (an experienced drummer), Nick Steed (keyboardist for Van Morrison and songwriter for Toto), and Kim Nishikawa (formerly with Michael Bublé), the show promises to be unforgettable. This might be your last chance to see Colosseum in Ticino, don’t miss it! See you in Maggia!

Basement Saints
CH

The Holy Trinity of Rock'n'roll today. Rock'n'roll as fresh as in the old days, with a touch of blues and just the right amount of soul. Music for those 1000-mile nights on the road. On the scene for more than a decade, their passion for guitar riffs, pressing grooves, the warmth of a real Hammond organ and unmistakable vocals evokes memories of the legendary 1970s. The diversity of their concerts, where one can experience goosebump-inducing epics, introspective psychedelia and thunderous rock'n'roll, is their greatest strength. The Basement Saints are a multinational rock band based in Switzerland. Meeting once a week in the basement as an escape from their full-time job has gradually turned into a full-time professional career drawing large crowds. They are known for their explosive and energetic live shows. Founded by frontman Anton Delen in 2012 as a duo, the band expanded in 2014 with the addition of a drummer. They immediately recorded their first EP Free Souls. Their first album Get Ready was released two years later. They then toured all over Europe, even playing at the Montreux Jazz Festival. After the release of their second album Bohemian Boogie, they took a hiatus. It wasn’t until 2021 that they returned with a new lineup and their third album, Stimulation. They are currently finishing their fourth album, and in Maggia we will definitely hear brand new tracks.
