The curtain has fallen on the 24th edition! An edition that fans will not soon forget!!! 

With the curtain now falling on the 24th edition of Vallemaggia Magic Blues, we can safely say that this was one of those editions that fans will not soon forget. After last year’s edition had added major names such as The Yardbirds, Treves Blues Band feat. Lou Marini, Atomic Rooster, FM and the outstanding Leif de Leeuw Band to the festival’s legendary hall of fame, this year’s edition further enriched it with illustrious names from the blues and rock scene, alongside a number of exciting emerging acts. When all is said and done, the nine nights fully lived up to expectations from a musical standpoint — and in some cases, they even exceeded them.

Once again, the so-called vintage concerts proved to be the absolute highlights, with COLOSSEUM standing head and shoulders above the rest. Five extraordinary musicians and a phenomenal singer delivered music of the highest quality. Combined with the explosive opening performance by BASEMENT SAINTS, it made for the best night of the festival — and one of the best in its history!

Also worthy of special mention was the pure, magical blues delivered by the band led by two living legends, PAUL JONES & JOHN ETHERIDGE. Paul Jones, Mr. British Blues himself, and John Etheridge, guitarist with the current Soft Machine, created an unforgettable evening of authentic blues.

The spirit of Woodstock ’69 was also very much alive thanks to the MILLER ANDERSON BAND. Another living legend of British rock and blues, Miller Anderson was the guitarist and singer of the Keef Hartley Band at Woodstock and proved once again that he is still in fantastic form.

And how could we leave out the most innovative blues performance of the festival? That honour goes to Danish singer and guitarist THORBJØRN RISAGER & THE BLACK TORNADO, rightly regarded as one of the finest — if not the finest — blues acts in Europe. Grit, energy and extraordinary musicianship were the order of the day, with phenomenal and innovative guitarist Joachim Svensmark particularly standing out.

Then there was the sophisticated TY LE BLANC BAND, offering a vibrant and emotional blend of soul, blues and gospel; the new star of Swiss soul, the captivating LARISSA BAUMANN; and the much-anticipated return, after 13 years, of ERIC SARDINAS.

The 8th EUROPEAN BLUES NIGHT was also a great success, featuring the Italian revelation SACROMUD, the warm and captivating voice of the EVE GALLAGHER BAND, and the extraordinary French act CHARB-ON.

And the finale? Pure fire! ERIC STECKEL and SIDEBURN literally set the stage ablaze, bringing the 24th edition to an explosive conclusion and securing its place among the most memorable editions in the history of Vallemaggia Magic Blues. Back to the Roots? Mission accomplished. And then some!
