04 August 2023 – 20:00 / Maggia

SPECIAL EVENING "Remember Open Air al Fiüm" The Hockey Club Maggia in collaboration with the Vallemaggia Magic Blues organizes an all "Ticino" evening in memory of the legendary "Open Air al Fiüm" with Radio Ticino, The Vad Vuc and the Nostran!

SPECIAL EVENINGS, for Vallemaggia Magic Blues are nothing new. During the first 20 years of the festival on several occasions it has collaborated with other associations in organizing "special evenings". From the first time in 2008 thanks to the Pro Brontallo for Davide van De Sfroos in Cevio, to the "All-star nights" together with Cross Music Production in 2009 and 2010 on the square in Maggia with the artist likes of Dana Gillespie and Rick Wakeman & NERE (2009) Tim Hinkley feat. Mel Collins and Henry Mc Cullough (2010); at The Nightbirds in Cevio with the Municipality of Cevio; until the last one, which we can safely consider as the pinnacle of collaborations, 10 years ago, when just together with the friends of the Hockey Club Maggia they brought the legendary Status Quo to Cevio for a concert that remains among the highlights in the history of the festival. "Just thinking about it still gives me the chills!!!"

Here comes the opportunity for a new collaboration with the friends of HC Maggia a decade later. On Friday, August 4, on the beautiful square of Maggia we will offer a special all-Ticino evening "Remember Open Air at Fiüm" with two of the most interesting bands of the rock scene in the Italian part of Switzerland: The Vad Vuc and Nostran.

The first ones, The Vad Vuc don't need much of an introduction, as they have been on the scene for more than two decades and...finally, live again with their "Posthumous Album"; they are back, in the face of misfortunes and vicissitudes, to present live songs from their latest irreverent "Posthumous Album." In addition to songs from the new album, there will be no shortage of surprises and they will bring their unfailing warhorses live ... for a show not to be missed, more enthralling and engaging than ever. They're coming back ... and they're loaded!!!"

Born from the ashes of Vomitors, Nostran was born in June 2020 and consists of Igor Pesciallo (vocals, accordion and guitar), Donat Walder (guitar), Mila Merker (bass) and Daiv Pucci (drums and vocals). The music they offer is wide-ranging dialectal rock, ranging from punk to blues, metal to folk. To date they have released twelve songs collected in two well-received EPs ("Al prim gott" and "Dü da pic" ) and seven video clips. A third EP will be released soon. Since the beginning, thanks also to the long and varied experience of its members, Nostran has been able to prove its live solidity and ability to create an engaging atmosphere both in small venues and on large open-air concert stages.

Partner of the evening will be Radio Ticino, which will open it with a DJ-Set.

The Vad Vuc

Thirteen years later, The Vad Vuc return to Maggia. Welcome back!

The Vad Vuc needs little introduction, as they have been on the radar for more than two decades. In fact, The Vad Vuc project took its first steps exactly on Christmas Day in the year 2000. In short order, the songs of this handful of friends have crept into every corner of Canton Ticino, making their way beyond Gotthard and even crossing national borders. In 20 years they have released 10 and performed in nearly 400 concerts between Italy, Switzerland, Germany and France, collaborating with The Dubliners, Simone Cristicchi, Steve Wickham (The Waterboys), Sharon Shannon, Les Mellino des Négresses Vertes, Gnu Quartet, Modena City Ramblers, Yo Yo Mundi, Gang, and many others, among others. At last we can see them live again with their "Posthumous Album," hinging on themes that head to the world of violence, such as: racism, bullying, prejudice, 'murder, indifference, domestic violence, war and abuse. They return, in the face of misfortunes and vicissitudes, to present live songs from their latest irreverent "Posthumous Album." In addition to songs from the new album, there will be no shortage of surprises and they will bring their unfailing warhorses live ... for a show not to be missed, more enthralling and engaging than ever. They are coming back ... and they are loaded!!!"

Nostran

Born from the ashes of the Vomitors for the first time in Maggia the Nostran!

Ticino's effervescent music scene is enriched in 2020 by a truly nostran project, or rather... Nostran. This is the name chosen by Donat (Donat Walder, guitar), Lorenz (guitar) and Daiv (Daiv Pucci, drums) after the end of their nearly 25-year adventure within the Vomitors. This end was matched by a new beginning, with the inclusion of old comrade and friend Mila Merker (Coreleoni) on bass and young frontman Igor "Pescia" Pesciallo (The Midnight Lovers) on vocals. The music they offer is a wide-ranging dialectal rock, ranging from punk to blues, from metal to folk. In their first compositions they tried to come up with songs quite different from each other, always maintaining a certain homogeneity of genre of course. From the summer piece, "Le Maldive di Milano" to "Nono Pin" or "Al Cantinon" where they try to show another face, a bit harder and metal. So far they have released twelve songs collected in two highly appreciated EPs ("Al prim gott" and "Dü da pic" ) and seven video clips. Since the beginning, thanks also to the long and varied experience of its members, Nostran has been able to prove its live solidity and ability to create an engaging atmosphere both in small venues and on large open-air concert stages. It was a few weeks ago that it was announced that Lorenz is leaving the band while the four remaining members are completing, after the first two EPs, the third chapter that will close the trilogy announced in the debut.
